Recently, a handover ceremony was held for the The extension project of the Institute of Polytechnic Regional Centre(IPRC) Musanze campus, in the Northern Province of Rwanda which funded by The Chinese government. Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Rao Hongwei and Minister of State for Vocational Education and Training Cloudette Irelay attended the ceremony and signed the handover certificate of the project on behalf of the two governments. The principal of Rwanda Vocational and Technical School, the principal of Musanze Comprehensive Technical School and the relevant personnel of contractor from Chongqing International Construction Corporation(CICO) and the relevant personnel of China Qiyuan attended the handover ceremony.
During the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Rao Hongwei said that both China and Rwanda attach great importance to education and youth development. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, the two countries have conducted close cooperation in various fields including education and human resources training and achieved fruitful results. The extension project of the Institute of Polytechnic Regional Centre(IPRC) Musanze campus, in the Northern Province of Rwanda is another milestone in the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Rwanda, as well as a testimony and sublimation of the traditional friendship between the two countries.
In this ceremony, Minister Iriere thanked China for its sincere, efficient and selfless assistance and praised the project as a symbol of China-Rwanda friendly relations. Rwanda cherishes its friendship with China and would like to continue in-depth cooperation with China in human resources development and vocational and technical training to jointly promote high-quality development of Education in Rwanda.
The extension project of the Institute of Polytechnic Regional Centre(IPRC) Musanze campus, in the Northern Province of Rwanda constructed by Chongqing International Construction Corporation(CICO), the project covers an area of 71000 square meters, construction area of 16300 square meters, included an administration office building, multi-functional hall, a comprehensive classroom building, student’s dormitories, training workshops and other facilities, as well as the construction site within the square, roads and other ancillary facilities, and a parking lot. And provided training equipment and office appliances furniture and other materials. After the extension, the teaching conditions and campus environment of Musanze Comprehensive Technical School have been greatly improved. It is expected to accommodate 2,000 students, which is of great significance to the cultivation of domestic technical talents, the improvement of independent innovation capacity and the realization of the goals of the "Vision 2050".
In the context of the global pandemic of COVID-19, the constructor CICO focused on the prevention and control of the epidemic and the quality of the project schedule during the implementation of the project, and completed the project on time, making a strong contribution to the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Rwanda.
