The Baofeng Peninsula Wetland Construction Project (Ecological Restoration Phase I) of Guandu District, constructed byCICO has been mainly completed after more than one year's efforts under the strong support of the superior department in charge and the participating units. It is expected to be completed before June 30. The Dianchi Lake scenery depicted in the long couplet of the Great View Tower is about to appear: "fragrant rice around, boundless clear sand, nine summer hibiscus, willows in three spring".

       Baofeng Peninsula Wetland (Phase I) Biodiversity Enhancement Project is close to Kunming City Planning Exhibition Hall, covering an area of 1633.8 mu, among which the core exhibition area, namely the main biodiversity exhibition area, covers an area of 286 mu. The project is divided into six sections, one of which is the existing Haidong Wetland, which is a display area of Dianchi Lake Wetland, and the second is to use the current basic farmland as an ecological restoration area. The core exhibition area is divided into the exhibition area of 101 native plants of Yunnan, which is a local poultry attraction area. Submerged corridor area mainly displays benthic mollusks, Dianchi Lake native fish and so on.

       After the completion of the submerged corridor, it will be like an undersea tunnel, with people walking under the water and fish swimming on it. At present, the water diversion culture is being carried out. After that, benthic mollusks endemic to Yunnan such as clams apentonatus and indigenous fish such as barbus and barbus sinensis will be put into the tunnel to concentrate on the aquatic animals of Dianchi Lake. After the construction of the submerged corridor, there is a roof above it. When the citizens enter the submerged corridor, they can see the unique fish of Dianchi Lake and the underwater benthic animals at close range just like observing the fish tank at home.

       A bird-watching platform has been built near Dianchi Lake, with fruit trees planted around it for the birds to eat. The small ecological island has so far attracted dozens of species of birds to rest and sing from morning till night.

       Recently, more than 200 mu of farmland ecological restoration area is transplanting rice and the planting is golden rice. In fact, each paddy field here is a miniature wetland, dozens of which are grouped together to form a large regional wetland system that purifies the surrounding water and air and reflects the diversity of crop species.

       Farmland, forest, wetland, birds, fish, shrimp, Dianchi Lake, plus the surrounding mountains, formed a green ecosystem. At present, the wetland biodiversity (first phase) promote baofeng peninsula is steadily push forward the project construction work, it is expected to be completed before June 30, comprehensive, from July to August into custody, optimizing the adjustment phase, from August to October in strengthening maintenance stages, and then it will show the dianchi lake biological diversity of ecological landscape and beautiful picture. (Text/Photo: Li Zhi)
