Chongqing International Construction Corporation has conscientiously implemented the 2024 work tasks for the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle assigned by Chongqing City Transportation Development&Investment Group Co.,LTD, actively promoting actions to build an inland open highland and implementing actions to improve people's livelihoods and enrich the people with high-quality living standards. From November to December, Chongqing International Construction Corporation joined forces with Chongqing Vocational College of Engineering and Chongqing Public Transport Vocational College to go abroad together, implementing the "Sino-Africa Regional Highway Engineering Industry Technical and Skilled Personnel Training Program" as part of Chongqing's inland education open highland initiative in Uganda. Chongqing Vocational College of Engineering and Chongqing Public Transport Vocational College each selected two key teachers to travel to Uganda, providing skills training to over 150 local workers and management personnel in the Masaka region of Uganda.

Based on the skill standards for "Road Construction and Maintenance Engineers" and "Civil Engineering Technicians" developed by Chongqing Vocational College of Engineering for the African region, and combining advanced Chinese vocational education concepts with cutting-edge technologies in the construction industry, the school-enterprise collaboration agreed on training plans, content, and course resources for six locally in-demand job categories in engineering projects, including steel fixers, structural workers, surveyors, road construction workers, and engineering material testing workers.

In the classroom, teachers conducted theoretical teaching through case analysis, demonstrated skills using simulated animations, and assisted in skill mastery through real-scenario drills, promoting the application of Chinese vocational education wisdom, construction standards, and norms overseas.
After nearly two months of training, the trainees achieved comprehensive improvements in both theoretical and practical skills. Following graduation, some trainees successfully secured employment in CICO’s Masaka-Jintale-Mutukula (89.5 km) highway construction project.

The training received high recognition from local workers. The Masaka road project is an important border trade corridor connecting Uganda and Tanzania, and a crucial part of the Central East African economic corridor. The project has a high construction cost and significant construction difficulties. Highly qualified local technical workers will help improve construction efficiency, enhance the company's market competitiveness and sustainable development capabilities in the local area, and also provide a more solid talent support for long-term cooperation between China and Uganda in the field of highway engineering, promoting deeper and broader exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in related fields.
