On June 6, at the foreign investments promoting high quality development of Chongqing SOEs & Stare-assets project showcase and signing event, more than 70 well-known foreign enterprises, foreign associations, and representatives of consulates in Chongqing and Chengdu from 13 countries and regions jointly witnessed the release and signing of state-owned enterprises-foreign cooperation projects totaling 1 billion US dollars. 37 state-owned enterprises' foreign cooperation projects were also released on the spot, covering the fields of new material research and development, manufacturing, commercial asset inventory operation, financial capital innovation and operation, with a total investment of more than 15.5 billion US dollars. Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) signed a general construction contract with Uganda National Roads Authority through video conferencing for the Reconstruction of Masaka-Kyotera-Mutukula Road (89.5 km)and Rehabilitation of Nyendo-Villa Maria Road (11 km) and Access roads (7 km) to Paved Standard (referred to as the Uganda 89.5 km project). Zheng Zhiming, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Chongqing City Transportation Development&Investment Group CO., Ltd., and Lin Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CICO, attended the signing ceremony.
The Uganda 89.5 km project is a priority project in Uganda's National Transport Master Plan 2008-2023, with a contract amount of US$168 million. This project is an important border trade link road between Uganda and Tanzania, and its completion will greatly stimulate the booming development of local commerce and tourism.
In 2024, CICO has signed three new overseas projects with a total contract amount of US$277 million. In the next step, CICO will continue to expand in overseas markets, seize new opportunities contained in the Chongqing chapter of Chinese-style modernization, intensify the development of overseas markets, actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road", continuously improve the level of foreign cooperation, and contribute to building Chongqing into an important strategic fulcrum for the western development in the new era and an integrated hub for inland opening-up.(Written and photographed by Peng Linying and Gou Xueyuan)
